Dr Seuss
One week can offer up so very much fun! I have only been back in this crazy town one week…hard to believe.
Kicked off my return with a super sweet outing to Yokahama with the Toneki’s. Kel and Finn were back in town, looking for higher highs and I think we found it. A ride on the world’s largest ferris wheel had us sitting way up in the clouds and Finn calming my fear of high stuff with rationed Mickey snacks.
Late on Friday night Masao informed me that we had a photo shoot at 10am Saturday morning – in our BATHTUB.
Photographer Hal, known for his saucy shots of Japanese couples in the Pinky & Killer DX Book, rocked in early with his compact bag of image capturing gadgets. After a quick rummage through my costume boxes, Masao and I were dressed, made up and wedged tightly together in our tiny Japanese bath tub. This was our view…

you will have to wait for the next book coming out in August to see what Photographer Hal saw.
With a slightly sore neck from embracing my inner contortionist in the tub, I headed off to teach a hoop dance class. Spotting the sakura on the way I was giddy with excitement about what the hanami season would have install for us hoopers in the park.
The rest is a swirling pink blur. Luckily there is some photo evidence of the beauty and hilarity!

Sweet hooping fairies were everywhere to be found. I ran into this girl by chance and it turns out she grew up in the exact same neighborhood as I did and went to the same primary school. Yoyogi Park is always full of magical encounters.

Yoyogi Park is known for it’s outdoor gatherings. When the sun goes down, if you tune in you can hear the beats fire up, running through the trees letting the sound guide you is half the fun.

Celebrating the vibrations of freedom that were swirling through the park on the weekend. Sakura season is the one season in the Japanese year when people really let go (in public).

There comes a time when all good things come to an end. The police usually have something to do with this, shutting down the outdoor wildness. They let this illegal party go on for quite a bit longer than usual though, they must have been feeling the cherry blossom spirit.

Met Alan in the park on Sunday. Was wandering along, hoops in hand, when he stopped us and asked for a photo together. Turns out he was visiting from Switzerland and had seen my blog before coming to Japan. How cool!
Happy Hanami!
