I think I am still recovering from Sunday! The latest Dance! Move! Play! fest saw the heat turned up so high we were in fear of a hoop melt down. I am talking about Capoeira.
On Sunday we had our worlds turned up side down (literally, we were *attempting* hand stands and walking on our hands) by the rocking crew from Bantus Capoeira Japan. Beyond a full mind and body workout we were introduced to the instrumental rhythms, expressive elements and history of the powerful form of movement.
A dance jam saw the guys back flipping and bouncing through hoops like playful performers while many of us kept it tame by intertwining some of our newly learned Capoeira moves with on and off body hoop moves.
Hugest thanks from all to Cacapa, Cafune and the whole Bantus Capoeira Japan crew for opening our eyes to strength and expression.
